Come on, let’s be honest. We all stray from our healthy(ish) diets now and again when we’re cooped up in the office all day. It’s difficult to stick solely to healthy office snacks when those Jammie Dodgers start to look mighty tempting at that 3pm mark. But we can’t beat ourselves up about it too much. A balanced diet is crucial and sometimes biscuits just have to make up a part of that. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles. We at Office Groceries are aware of this. That’s why we offer a wide variety of healthy office snacks that range from delectable fruit baskets to scrumptious biscuits.

Making a conscious effort to choose healthier options can be highly beneficial to your working lifestyle, however. A survey carried out by Jobvite found that 35% of office workers have healthy work snacks provided in their office. It would seem then, that we have the resources out there to make better decisions regarding our consumption of food at work. In this blog we will outline the top 5 healthy office snacks for you to try out. Even though those Jaffa Cakes may be calling your name rather loudly from across the office, with our help you can indulge more sparingly and stick to your healthy eating guns.

1. Let’s get a little fruity

As mentioned in our previous post, Office Fruits Benefits, snacking on fruit is the best way to go. Packed with essential vitamins and minerals, these naturally occurring tasty treats are a great way to stay energised whilst feeding your body’s immune system.

Many offices provide fruit for their staff, it’s a commonplace snack that makes for an easy and tasty alternative to those tempting biscuits. Why not head over to our fruit basket delivery page to find some healthy office snacks for your workplace.

2. Nuts about nuts

A delicious and affordable snack, nuts contain high levels of fat – don’t worry, it’s the types that are good for you. Mainly the old faithfuls: omega-6 and omega-3 polyunsaturated fats. Nuts are an excellent source of fibre and protein, and have been proven to reduce the risk of heart disease.

Somewhat of a superfood, our favourite nuts can do us a world of good if incorporated into our workplace diets. A study showed that almonds can reduce inflammation in people with type 2 diabetes. So scoff away!

3. Crackers about crackers

Crackers and savoury biscuits are fantastically versatile healthy office snacks. High fibre and relatively low in calories, these small sheets of tasty crunchiness are blank canvases for you to customise at will. You can slather a bit of cream cheese on there, maybe a touch of smoked salmon. Or just enjoy plain or with a spot of butter.

Remember, though, that that great salty taste comes at the cost of high sodium levels. So don’t gorge yourself on them – your blood pressure won’t thank you!

4. Become a cereal offender

Cereal is one of the easiest office snacks out there. Just fill up a bowl and add a healthy glug of milk. It is important, however, that you select the right cereal for your office. Many branded cereals are ridiculously high in sugar and salt. Stick to your wholewheat cereal biscuits, shredded wholegrain pillows and porridge oats. Despite being less flavoursome, the plain flavour gives versatility – why not add a bit of fruit to your afternoon Weetabix?

5. Anything dipped in hummus

A tasty Middle Eastern dip and spread, hummus has become a global favourite. Rich in vitamin B6 and fibre, it is both delicious and nutritious. Plus, it can play host to a whole selection of other healthy snacks to be dipped into it. It’s a dip that keeps on giving!

We hope this blog was of help to you! If you want some more inspiration for which healthy snacks to stock your workplace with, head over to our office fruit basket deliveries.
